Purpose of the thorn:

Make the GSL (GNU Scientific Library) available to Cactus thorns.

Note that the GSL library is licenced under the GPL.  If you call GSL
routines from your thorn, then this probably means that you may only
distribute your thorn if it is also licenced under the GPL.
